While at Flow Video, I animated these two videos in Cinema4D and Redshift demonstrating ControlTek’s RFID system. Creative Direction and Script written by Steve Pankotai.
Compared to the previous video we made for ControlTek, this time the client preferred to keep it stylized, but less like the pieces of a board game and more realistically colored (but not necessarily realistically rendered). This is also entirely 3D animated with no live action, so we had to show a lot more.
Good ol' Mixamo is great for grabbing a couple stock models and walk cycles, especially given time constraints with ControlTek needing these videos done in time for a trade show. I created the retail and warehouse spaces with clear zones in mind.
In the interest of render time, I also rendered these primarily in 12fps, which we found doesn't work quite as well for flythroughs, but looks great for isometric views of the space. In Redshift, I was able to get the render time down to about a minute per frame, but also utilized a render farm to help speed it up. Using C4D's built in takes system and render queue, I could set up each shot and let it render overnight, just hoping that I wouldn't suddenly lose power without realizing it. It's a little stressful to worry about that, but it's so fun to see the end result!
